FAQ

LLANI - TAMZIN - HEIDI
Why do I need to bind off after the collar?

In a round yoked sweater its neck carries all the weight of the entire sweater and if the neck stretches out under this weight, the collar will become much larger than intended in the pattern and will most likely slip off your shoulders. While this might not be a problem in an adult sweater, children's shoulders are generally not very wide and would definitely benefit from a sturdy collar to keep those tops sitting in the right place.

One way of around the bind off, in case you've forgotten to add it or decided against it, is to work a crochet chain on the Wrong side of your knitting just at the base of the collar after the sweater is completed. This is better done in the same colour yarn as your projects, following the purl bumps of the same row or round on the Wrong side of knitting.
