The Ravenna Cowl was originally published in KnitScene Winter 2014 issue and I am very excited to be able to offer the pattern as a PDF through Ravelry and LoveKnitting.com

The pattern is deceptively simple yet very impressive in its peek-a-boo sort of a pattern. The two techniques used here are mosaic knitting (or slip-stitch colourwork) and cables. The effect of combining the two is this striking fabric with little peeks of colour popping in and out of the cabled background.

The cowl is knitted using DK weight Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend. You'll need two skeins of main colour and one of contrasting colour. You'll get a slightly different effect if you use a darker shade for your main colour and the variety of combinations is vast as you can imagine. I'd suggest checking out the project gallery on Ravelry if you're wavering on what to use for it!
