After a rather quiet summer all the new patterns seem to flood in at once. It'll come as no surprise to find out that the Spring and Summer are in fact all but quiet behind the scenes, with writing and grading patterns, coordinating sample knitters, and finishing off a million other things all along the summer holidays, leaving very little time for anything else. I am very much looking forward to introducing each one here in the following months!
Jasper is the one to kick off the season!
Jasper is a loose fitting slouchy bed sock, perfect for keeping your toes toasty when the weather is
cold. It is knitted from the top down with a heel flap for extra comfort and a round (or a star shaped, as it is sometimes called) toe.
I've been using this toe construction in my sock patterns more and more as I find the fit suits most toe shapes perfectly. You can adjust its length, and as a result its shape, very easily by spreading or 'compressing' the rate the decrease rows are worked at.
The fun herringbone stitch pattern in this design is easy to follow and the instructions feature two thicknesses of yarn: Aran and 4ply. Both weights were graded separately, to ensure a good fit, and then put together into one pattern.
The 4ply pattern comes in four sizes, ranging from 7 1/4" to 9 1/2" and the Aran pattern comes in two, 8" and 9 3/4"finished foot circumference.
