Blackfriars Beret

Today I present to you the Blackfriars beret.

Inspired (and made with a very special place in mind) this beret took its time before it came together from an idea that was conceived back in August when Anne just opened the Knit Studio that's nestled very cosily within Blackfriars in Newcastle. It took some time to perfect the way pattern came together with the brim and the shaping, and the hat feels more like a complete entity - I am very pleased with the result.

Knit in a lightweight alpaca, Blackfriars beret is light and airy and is perfect for those interim seasons, when the spring's just behind the corner yet it's still to chilly to flaunt your sun dresses.
The allover cable pattern grows naturally from the brim into the hat’s body and further into the crown, with shaping integrated into the pattern.

You can buy the pattern from KF designs, Ravelry or if you're lucky enough to be in Newcaslte - a print version from the Knit Studio.

  1. I really like this. There's some really subtle shaping in this that makes it interesting.
